Intro to My New Book

I'll be releasing a new book this summer, and I wanted to share the intro with you here.

"I’ve been saved since I was eleven. At least, that’s my best guess. I grew up in a church culture that taught salvation could be easily lost with any given sin, so there were hundreds of times that I begged God to (re)save me. If you asked me to name the exact moment that I decided to follow Jesus, it would be at a church summer camp service when I don’t even remember what was preached, but I do remember encountering the Lord. I also remember how hard the enemy came for me immediately after that. Nobody told me that part.

As I’ve walked with the Lord but also succumbed to all kinds of gross deceptions of the enemy…many of them stoked by the system of religion that I grew up in…I’ve experienced many other things that nobody told me when I surrendered to Christ. And I suppose you could say that this is just part of the process for a growing Christian, but to this day, I wish I would have known some of these things before I got started.

Not that it would have changed my decision.

Joining God’s family is the best decision that I’ve ever made. Without Him, I am nothing and I know it. I just wish I had known a long time ago how to accept His Love that casts out fear. Instead, I spent most of my Christian life, afraid…trapped in a prison of condemnation.

The things that I finally have come to understand after years and years of condemnation and fear-based Christian living have given me so much freedom and joy in my relationship with God, and I want that for you too. It’s why Jesus died…so we can make ourselves at home in His Love.

Whether you’ve been a Christian for twenty-five years, five years, five minutes, or you’re still considering relationship with Christ maybe you’ve never been told some of the things I’ve learned after thirty years of following Jesus. Maybe you’re still wondering if it’s even possible to experience abundant life in Christ. Maybe, like I was for decades, you are still searching for freedom while everyone around you is telling you how free you already you are. Maybe it’s this book that will connect some of the pieces of the puzzle for you. That’s my prayer.

I sincerely pray this book is full of things you already know. But if it isn’t, you will know them after you read it, and like me, you will be better equipped to live wholly loved and wonderfully free. I hope that by the time you finish with this resource, you are surer than ever that living for the One who created you is the only wise choice. Not because He can send you to hell, but because He loves you more than you could ever hope to be loved.

I’m so glad you are here, and the great privilege that I have in speaking into your faith journey is not lost on me. I feel the weight of it with every one of these words. And if nobody has told you, I want to tell you. Because I think you should know…"
